Legend.trade Fees: Platform and Network Costs
A layer-by-layer breakdown of what a Legend trade costs, with worked examples and the exact source for every number.
Last fact-checked: August 21, 2026
Short answer
A Legend trade carries at least two fees: the Hyperliquid network fee charged by the underlying exchange, and Legend's own platform fee, documented at 0.05% for perpetuals and 0.25% for spot. Copy trading can add a profit share of up to 20% to the copied trader. Referral cashback can return 10% of the platform fee on losing trades.
Why does a Legend trade have more than one fee?
Because two businesses are involved. Hyperliquid runs the exchange and charges for it. Legend runs the interface and the social layer on top and charges its own platform fee, sometimes described as a builder fee. Neither one absorbs the other's cost, so both appear in your total.
| Layer | Charged by | Documented rate | When it applies |
|---|---|---|---|
| Network fee | Hyperliquid | Variable | Every trade settled on the exchange |
| Platform fee — perpetuals | Legend | 0.05% | Every perpetual trade placed through Legend |
| Platform fee — spot | Legend | 0.25% | Every spot trade placed through Legend |
| Copy-trading profit share | Copied trader | Up to 20% | Only when copying a trader who charges one |
| Referral cashback | Legend | 10% of the platform fee | Eligible losing trades on referred accounts |
How large are these numbers in practice?
| Notional traded | Perpetuals platform fee | Spot platform fee |
|---|---|---|
| $500 | $0.25 | $1.25 |
| $5,000 | $2.50 | $12.50 |
| $50,000 | $25.00 | $125.00 |
| $500,000 | $250.00 | $1,250.00 |
Why does spot cost five times more than perpetuals?
That is simply how the documented rates sit: 0.25% on spot against 0.05% on perpetuals. The practical consequence is that spot trading through Legend is expensive relative to its perpetual pricing, and frequent spot activity accumulates cost quickly. If your strategy is spot-heavy, price the difference before committing.
Editorial explanationEditorially, we consider the perpetual rate the more competitive of the two and the spot rate the one that deserves the most scrutiny. Compare it against what you would pay elsewhere for the same execution.
Where does referral cashback fit?
It applies to the Legend platform-fee portion of losing trades, at 10%. It does not touch the network fee. On perpetuals, that turns an 0.05% platform fee into an effective 0.045% on the trades that lose money.
What is not a fee but still costs you?
- Slippage between your expected and executed price.
- Funding payments on perpetual positions held over funding intervals.
- The spread you accept when taking liquidity.
- Liquidation, which is not a fee but is by far the largest realistic cost of leveraged trading.
